Help & FAQ

How PackMule gets a stack of cards from your desk to eBay, and what each number on the screen means. Want to see it first? The demo runs on sample cards with a guided tour, no account needed.

01Getting started

What does PackMule do?

You scan or photograph Pokémon cards. PackMule identifies each one, prices it against the market, and puts them all on one page where you set your prices. Then it lists them to eBay in one go. If you're buying a collection instead of selling, you can scan it into an appraisal and get a total value and an offer.

Do I need a scanner?

No. On the Scan page, use Camera on a phone or Choose photos to upload pictures you've already taken. One card per photo, flat, in decent light. A document scanner with a sheet feeder is much faster for big stacks, but you don't need one to start.

What's the fastest way to learn it?

Run the demo. It walks through Scan, List and Appraisal on 14 sample cards in about two minutes, and nothing you do there is saved.

02Scanning & matching

What should I set in Configure before scanning?

Configure applies to the whole batch. The most useful setting is the set name: tell PackMule what's in the stack and matches come back faster and pick the right printing. Leave it empty for a mixed pile. You can also name the batch, pick eBay listing or Appraisal as the destination, and set the finish, edition and condition every card starts with. Save your usual setup as a Preset.

What do TEXT, FPRINT and AI mean on a match?

They tell you how a card was identified. TEXT means it read the printed name and card number. FPRINT means it matched the card's image fingerprint against the catalog. AI means it had to look at the card more carefully. A match is only as good as the scan, so crooked or badly cropped scans get flagged.

A card was matched wrong. How do I fix it?

Click the card in the holding area and choose one of the other suggestions, or search for the right one. Hover a suggestion to see it bigger. The price updates for the card you pick. It's worth a quick look at anything that isn't TEXT before you release a batch.

Why did a card go to REVIEW?

PackMule holds back a card when a wrong guess would cost you real money. The usual case is 1st Edition: if the stamp wasn't clearly read and the 1st Edition is worth at least twice the Unlimited, the card waits for you to check it instead of being listed quietly at the wrong price.

Can it read graded slabs?

Yes, from photos. Photograph the whole slab with the label in frame and PackMule reads the label: grader (PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC or TAG), grade and cert number, plus the card itself. The card shows a chip like PSA 10 · #12345678 and is priced from that grade's sold prices, not the raw card's. If part of the label didn't read, or there's no sold price for that grade, the card goes to REVIEW with the reason so you can fill it in.

Missed one, or it read a slab that isn't? Open the card and flip the slab switch. You can edit the grader, grade and cert there too.

How do I check a cert number?

Every slab has a Verify cert ↗ link that opens the grader's own lookup. PSA, CGC and TAG open straight to that cert. Beckett and SGC open their lookup page, and you paste the number in. Always check expensive slabs before you list them.

What happens to the photos I upload?

They're stored so they can go on your listings. Location data and other camera details are stripped from every photo before it's saved.

03Pricing & fees

How is "Your price" worked out?

It starts from the market price for that exact card and printing (95% of market by default, which you can change in Settings), then takes off the discount for its condition (set these in Settings; LP is 15% off by default), then rounds the way you chose. Click the (?) next to any price to see the full working. Use − and + to nudge it, or type your own. A typed price is marked CUSTOM and bulk changes leave it alone.

Where do market prices come from?

Market prices are estimates blended from recent sold prices across the major card marketplaces, and graded (PSA, BGS, CGC) prices come from PriceCharting. Price data includes data from PriceCharting.com.

What's in "fees"?

Roughly what eBay and shipping take from one sale. Hover the (?) on any card for its exact breakdown.

ItemAmount
eBay final value fee13.25% of the price (2.35% on the part over $7,500)
eBay per-order fee$0.30 at $10 and under, $0.40 above
Shipping$0.85 envelope under $20, $4.25 Ground Advantage from $20

These are estimates. Your real eBay fees depend on your store level, category and promotions.

Why is "You keep" red on some cards?

Red means that card loses money once fees and shipping come out. Those are usually better sold in a bulk lot than listed one by one, so switch them to BULK.

Can I change every price at once?

Yes. Under the buttons on the List page, Pricing & bulk edits moves every price by a percent, sets the rounding, or changes just the cards you've selected. Rounding never moves a price by more than 10% (or $0.50 on cheap cards).

04Listing on eBay

How do I connect my eBay account?

Go to Connections and press Connect eBay. You sign in on eBay's own page and it sends you back linked. PackMule never sees your eBay password. You can switch accounts or disconnect from the same page.

Will it change settings on my eBay account?

Only if you say so. A listing needs shipping, return and payment policies. If your account doesn't have them, PackMule shows exactly what it would create and asks first.

Which cards get listed?

Only cards marked LIST. Each one goes up with your photos and a description. PackMule won't list a card that has only catalog artwork and no photo of your actual card, because buyers need to see what they're getting. If eBay rejects a card, it shows up in a list with eBay's reason so you can fix it and push again. Pushing the same card again updates its listing instead of making a duplicate.

Can I sell somewhere other than eBay?

Yes, on any paid plan (Saddlebag and up). Under Connections you can link The Virtual Card Shop and Misprint as well as eBay, then post your sale inventory to them from the List page. The free plan exports a CSV instead. Graded slabs go up with their grader, grade and cert. Every plan can still export a CSV.

Why are some cards "Waiting to list"?

Each marketplace caps how much you can list. eBay sets a monthly limit on how many items and how many dollars you can list, The Virtual Card Shop has a daily limit that grows with your seller rank, and Misprint caps a single listing at $500. When a push would go over a limit, PackMule posts what fits and holds the rest instead of failing.

Held cards sit in Waiting to list with the reason and when they'll go up, and PackMule posts them for you as soon as there's room (it checks every hour). A banner on your dashboard shows how many are waiting, and you get an email when cards are held and when they post. Use Post now to try a card early or Cancel to stop waiting. Cards over Misprint's $500 cap show as blocked, since waiting won't change that.

05Appraisals

What's an appraisal for?

Valuing a collection, usually one you might buy. Choose Appraisal as the destination in Configure and scan it in. You get the total market value, and your offer at the buyout percent you set. You can share a read-only report or save a PDF.

What does "worth grading" mean?

For cards where it might pay, PackMule shows what each PSA grade tends to sell for and the net gain after the grading fee. It's a guide, not a promise: the grade depends on the card in your hand.

06Scans & billing

What counts as a scan?

One card identified. You're only charged for cards that come back matched. If the connection drops and the same card is sent twice, it's counted once.

What are the plans?
PlanMonthlyScans a month
FoalFree50
Saddlebag$141,000
Pack$343,000
Wagon$7410,000
Mule Train$19950,000

Yearly billing is about two months free. eBay listing starts at Saddlebag. Full details are on the pricing section.

Do unused scans roll over?

Yes, on every paid plan. Scan 2,000 of your 10,000 this month and next month you have 18,000. The bank builds up to five times your monthly scans. Banked scans are yours to keep even if you downgrade or cancel. The free plan resets every month.

What's a top-off?

A one-time scan pack for when you run out mid-month: 500 for $9, 2,000 for $29, or 5,000 for $65. Top-off scans go into your bank, never expire, and stay yours if you change plans. If you need them every month, a bigger plan is cheaper per scan.

How do I change plans or cancel?

On the Plans page, open the billing portal. You can switch plans (the change is prorated), update your card, see invoices or cancel there. Plans renew automatically until you cancel.

07Account & data

Who can see my cards and prices?

Only you, unless you share an appraisal report. A shared report is read-only, and deleting the appraisal turns the link off.

Is PackMule made by Pokémon or eBay?

No. PackMule is an independent product of Stoke Strategies, LLC. It isn't affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Nintendo, Creatures, GAME FREAK, The Pokémon Company, eBay, TCGplayer or PSA.
